Take up locum opportunities in Essex

Queen's Hospital

As a Client Account Manager for Total Assist Group, I work with NHS hospital trusts situated around London and across the Home Counties. I was recently given the chance to meet up with the guys from a local hospital to find out about all the latest news as well as discuss the abundance of upcoming locum opportunities. Part of one of the largest acute trusts in England, this Essex trust serves a massive 700,000 patients, covering a wide range of social and ethnic groups, so no two days would be the same on placement here.

This hospital – complete with cancer centre, regional neuroscience centre and a Hyper Acute Stroke Unit – is a very attractive hospital to work in. Only a half hour train journey away from central London, this hospital has a fantastically accessible location, making it very easy to commute to. Although they do have a car park, the nearest train station is only a 10 minute walk away, or even a five minute bus journey. If you live too far away for a daily commute to a placement here, that is no problem, as the hospital provides on-site accommodation for a discounted rate of £25 per night.

The hospital itself is huge, with a separate hematology and oncology building as well as various complex care and specialist service wards. Despite its large size, the hospital is well signposted and colour coded to help both staff and patients find their way.

Locum choices

Based in the popular commuter belt of London, this Essex trust is definitely one of the busiest, providing an array of positions for locum staff. The key departments are undoubtedly Medicine and A&E, with both areas constantly requiring an update of SHO, SpR and Consultant grade doctors, so experienced locum staff who can handle a busy schedule are much needed here.

As well as Medicine and A&E, we also place locum staff in Obs & Gynae, Paediatrics and Surgery, so if you work in these specialties, there are opportunities aplenty for you too. Not only is there a ranging mix of departments you could tackle, but you can also have your say about the length of placement, as this popular hospital provides both ad-hoc days and longer terms. We have some doctors placed there who have been locuming in the same position for over a year, which adds some more stability to your working life if that is what you are looking for.

We have been working with this NHS trust for many years, and have developed an excellent relationship with them, working particularly well with the employees in medical staffing. If you are interested in working in this thriving and all-encompassing hospital environment in Essex, then please get in touch with me – I’d be more than happy to help find the perfect position for you.
