East London trust gets emergency medicine consultants to collaborate

Barts Health NHS Trust today held an exclusive team building event for A&E consultants at prestigious The Royal London Hospital, based in Whitechapel.

Attended by 38 doctors from hospital sites such as Whipps Cross University Hospital, Newham University Hospital and The Royal London Hospital, the team building event focused around consultants who work in A&E, allowing colleagues to discuss the prospects as well as potential problems for the future of emergency medicine.

Barts Health is the biggest NHS trust in the UK, serving at least 2.5 million patients across East London. The trust, established in April 2012 and part of UCL Partners, also includes Mile End Hospital, The London Chest Hospital and St Bartholomew’s Hospital, all situated across central sites in London.

Attendees were also able to play around with personality types, using the popular Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) to analyse what style of doctor they were, calculating which personality types they were likely to work with best and which ones they might not collaborate as well with.

Led by clinical leads Dr Mischa Heron and Dr Ian Morrison as well as clinical director Dr Malik Ramadhan, the day event was sponsored by Total Assist Group, who provided lunch from the nearby Italian restaurant Pepenero.
