Please summarise your career over the last 3 years

Officially my UK career started as a multi-disciplinary BMS in LML which was cut short due to my military obligations in Greece. For the past 8 months I have worked as Locum Biomedical Scientist for the NHS. Working at the Biochemistry department made realise that I deeply enjoy working as Biomedical Scientist at a blood sciences department. I have since started my MSc in Blood Sciences.

Have you ever been disciplined, suspended, or are you currently under investigation by an NHS Trust or other employer (including other agencies) – if yes, please give details

Never. It is in my moral code to be respectful of my working environment and colleagues. On the contrary , I have received appraisal which motivated me to be even better as a professional.

Why have you chosen to register with The Locum Agency? *

I was in the process of looking for an new position and I came across an advert from TLA. I have been interacting with various agencies throughout my years living in UK. What I found unique about TLA was the fact that I was contacted within an hour of submitting my application and got enrolled with compliance in the same day. The speed, communication and professionalism is unmatched. Hopefully,I can prove equal to your standards.

Tell me about a recent occasion when you were under pressure and handled it successfully. - What was the situation? - What actions did you take? - What was the outcome?

At St Helier Hospital there were indeed busy times. However what eased the burden of overworking were two things. The first thing, was the communication between the team. We all knew what we had to do, we all knew how to work things out and we all helped as much as we could. The second part was the trust they gave me. I reached a point were I could demonstrate and regulate the work very efficiently.

What is your understanding of the Human Tissue Act 2004?

As a general legislation it states the directives for the ethical handling and processing of human tissue samples, describes the ways of the correct disposal of tissues and finally the penalties that may be applied should the directives are not followed.

What steps would you take, going forward if you become aware of an incident or complaint, which you were involved or implicated in?

-Inform my supervisor or manager
-Write down the incident providing as much information as possible.
-Complete the appropriate incident forms as instructed by my trust.

Please outline your understanding of Clinical Governance.

Clinical Governance, like any other form of TQM (Total Quality Management) ensures that work that is conducted on an every day basis follows the higher standards. This is a subject that I am very familiar, which in turn strive to become better at it. To me work is not completed unless quality was ensured.

Thinking about a recent difficult situation you’ve had with patient’s relatives – How did you handle this and the outcome

As a laboratorian my interactions with any member of the public is non existent and always have been this way. No interactions to report.
