Why have you chosen to register with The Locum Agency? *

to get more clinical experience by trying new opportunities.

Tell me about a recent occasion when you were under pressure and handled it successfully. - What was the situation? - What actions did you take? - What was the outcome?

A patient was very upset that he did not get his medications & when I started to speak to him, he seemed to me a little bit confused.
I started to look up his records to see what medication he was taking & whether he received his medications or not.
From the records , it appeared that the patient had got all his medications.
So, I asked the patient to go home & to check his medications and if he could not find them , I will try to ask the Dr to issue another prescription & The medication will be delivered to his home.
The patient went home & discovered that he received his medications one day before her visit to the hospital & he called me to apologise for his attitude towards the nurse & the pharmacy staff.
The medications were oral chemotherapy.

What is your understanding of the Medicines Act 1968?

The 1968 Act provided a system of licensing for manufacturing and dealing in medicines.

You are asked to prescribe medication which is not clearly documented within the patients notes and medical record. What should you do?

I'm not registered as IP so I have to confirm that the medication is drug history for the patient & what is indicated for & I will ask the Doctor responsible for the case to prescribe it.

What steps would you take, going forward if you become aware of an incident or complaint, which you were involved or implicated in?

I will speak to my line manager & I will record all the details about the incident to help the investigation.

Please outline your understanding of Clinical Governance.

Confidantiality and Audits.

Thinking about a recent difficult situation you’ve had with patient’s relatives – How did you handle this and the outcome

I received a call from a child father asking for another bottle of antibiotic to be supplied to them as per discharge summary.
However, by checking the discharge summary , the consultant gave instructions for the parents to start the prophylaxis antibiotic after finishing the course of treatment. The issue was that the father insisted that the prophylaxis antibiotic should be supplied by the hospital not by his GP. After discussing the discharge summary with the father , he understood that starting the prophylaxis antibiotic should be done by the GP after finishing the treatment course of antibiotics.
